Hedgerow walk and hand-made books
Attended a workshop organised by CPRE Shropshire as part of their Hedgerow project intended for people to learn more about hedgerows and respond creatively in a series of different arts activities.
Finding inspiration from natural forms in hedgerows and the local landscape, artist Andrew Howe demonstrated hot to make simple folded paper books using collage.
The day began with a gentle walk around the hedgerows at Whitegates Farm near Whitchurch to explore their ecology as the winter exposes interesting shapes of trees, and reveals hidden forms, like nests. Back in the lovely indoor workshop space, we will learned some simple techniques for making collages on paper and developing these into simple folding books.
We experimented with gathered plant materials, made drawings, added text to make one-off artists books.
